Faculty Summer Compensation It is that time of year! Summer is just around the corner. It is time to look at what we have to do to charge Faculty Summer Compensation on sponsored programs. Job class code 99916, Faculty Summer Compensation, is used on a PAF together with position code 985 so that the charges are posted to subcode 1350, Coadjutant salaries - non instruction, which has no fringe benefit charge. For sponsored program charges in the 4-2XXXX range of accounts, under this job class code and position code the summer compensation is treated as organized research on a sponsored program. If this organized research is on a sponsored program that requires effort certification, the time reports must be submitted after the work is done so the effort certification on them is after-the-fact. If the organized research represents 3/9th or 1/11th pay, the PAF must have a foregoing of vacation statement from the individual attached. Please make sure your Principal Investigator/Project Director complies. You can charge to other than a 4-2XXXX account on the PAF, particularly if you are charging the excess salary over the NIH salary cap to a non-sponsored account. In addition, you can charge other contractual 1/9th, 2/9th, 3/9th or 1/11th obligations to non-sponsored accounts. If you have any questions on the above, please review the policies and procedures on our web site or use the below links.
